This image started as two shots. One existing light and one with flash.
All the work was done in Photoshop using Akvis Sketch and Smart mask.

1.Layer 1 is the existing light photo done in Sketch Artistic mode with hatch set to 45 degrees
2. Layer 2 is the same as above but with hatch set to 135 degrees. This layer is set to Darken blend mode allowing the bottom layer to show through the withe white giving me the “cross hatched” look.
3. Layer three is just the Christmas tree. This was removed from the existing light photo using  Smart Mask. The tree was then run through Sketch using the Classic tab and setting that somewhat maintained the realism of the image.
4. Layer 4 is my granddaughter taken from the flash picture. She was removed from that image using Smart Mask. This was then taken into Sketch using the same Classic settings as the tree. I added a layer mask to remove some of the Sketch effect from her face.
5. Final step was to add a slight white vignette around the parameter.

My final image is actually 14”x12” (35.6cm x 30.5cm) and was printed with an Epson 1430 on convention (uncoated) water color paper. Mounted, framed and hanging right near our Christmas tree. Thank you Akvis for creating the tools that allow me to do work like this.

Happy Holidays to All :)

Here are my 3 entries…
#1_ Tree in the Woods… In Photoshop I first added snow with a brush & the text.
Then I used Neon using the Sharp Lines preset with my adjustments for overall efx. Then I added a border using ArtSuite.
#2_ Nativity Scene… Used Neon, (don't remember the preset) with my adjustments. Added the border in ArtSuite,
then added text & a cooling filter in Photoshop. Neon added a beautiful glow effect to this image, the original was very flat looking.
#3_ Rockerfeller Tree in NY… The image is of the Xmas tree in Rockerfeller Center, NY. I used SmartMask on the bow provided by Akvis.
Added the bow to the image, then used Neon with the Sharp Lines preset and with my adjustments. I then added the ice border in
ArtSuite. Then added the text in Photoshop.

Had a lot of fun with this program that I wound up making 6 cards… it was hard making a decision on my entries! I've put up the other 3 in the Gallery.
Good Luck to all the entrants! Have a very Merry Christmas.

This is my sister-in-laws cat sleeping happily with an angel doll. I used 4 layers of AKVIS Neon over a base layer of Photoshop that was processed with the oil paint filter. I used different layers for the cat, angel, flowers, and background. The background was AKVIS Fine Glow "out of the box" - the rest used various levels of transparency and erasure, with different settings of AKVIS Neon. Microsoft Paint was used to do the wording box.
